Saturday 12 November Patrick Haugh Trophy

On Saturday 12th November Gravesham hosted South London in the Patrick Haugh Trophy. Gravesham made a fantastic start to the match with a good passing movement involving Luke Carey and Jaydn Gildea giving Brenden Anoske the opportunity to score which he successfully did within two minutes of kick off.

Gravesham played some impressive football, but only maintained their lead ten minutes into the match when goalkeper James Morrison made a fine flying save. Gravesham were controlling the match when Jack Conway collected the ball on the edge of the box and struck a superb shot over the South London goalkeeper to give Gravesham a 2-0 advantage after 20 minutes. Three minutes later Jaydn Gildea nearly increased the lead with a shot from 50 yards which went over the keeper but just wide of the post. In the second half South London were a little more threatening but Gravesham did not concede any more goals and Danny Peen had an outstanding game at left back. However a combination of hard work and good football meant that Gravesham were always the more likely to win.

Half way through the second half Gravesham added their third and final goal when Dan Birch was able to fire the ball into the back of the net following a corner to ensure a 3-1 victory. Gravesham will face either Woking or West Kent in the next round.
